The Song
Instrumental
Lyrics
Old King Cole was a merry old soul,
What a very
old, merry old soul was he.
For breakfast he’d eat chocolate cake
While drinking
sweetened earl gray tea
At the mid day meal he ate a plate of veal
For his majesty that was hardly enough
A banquet’s the thing that would suit a king
Good gosh too much of this fattening stuff.
So old king Cole, our not so merry soul
Looked more like a ball or a giant bowl,
His clothes didn’t fit, no not at all.
He was ever much wider than he was tall.
That’s why by spring, our dear old King
Was unable to waltz around the floor.
With too much to eat, he couldn’t see his feet.
The king wouldn’t stand for it anymore.
Well now he’s changed, his diet rearranged.
Again he is
merry and also wise.
He eats more nutritiously, portions judiciously
He’s New King Cole
at a smaller size.
